True worship

Now, I know that all the people who visit Pearmama's World are not Christian.

You might be Buddhist. Or Catholic. Unitarian Universalist. You might be a pagan. You might not even believe in God. Yet, you read my posts.

And I believe in God. I may not be a holy rolling proselytizer, but I do. In fact, I love Him. His Son, too.

Jesus.

I realize that many, many people say they believe in God. But Jesus? Not so much.

But I really, really wish that people who have had a bad experience with religion could visit my church. I think you would walk away with the feeling that Christians...and their God, well, they aren't so bad after all.

I love Sandals Church. I love the people that go there. I love my pastor, Matt Brown. He has this way of expressing himself like a real person. There is no fake I'm-so-holy-let-me-say-the-perfect-thing-from-the-pulpit stuff going on.

He is the business.

Yesterday, we were celebrating Palm Sunday. This is an exciting week for Christians, with Good Friday and Easter approaching. Pastor Matt was trying to convey how the people were celebrating the man who came riding into Jerusalem on a donkey, amidst shouts of "Hosanna" and much palm frond waving, and how we should worship at the mention of His name.

So Pastor Matt showed us this video of Steve Harvey, to get us excited about celebrating Palm Sunday.

When it ended, Pastor Matt said, "We need more black people at our church. Black people know how to worship!"

And I clapped and amen'd and hallelujah'd and I really hoped people wouldn't get offended. Because you just gotta know Pastor Matt. He doesn't try to offend....he is just real with it.

And if you've ever been to a "black church", then you know exactly what he is talking about. Black people be havin' them some church. And a little bit of racial diversity never hurt nobody.

So my Sunday at church was awesome. I just wish more people could have experienced it.

You can watch Pastor Matt Brown at Sandals Church every Sunday here on Livestream.
